PINTA e NIÑA  - 1492

All'infuori del giornale di bordo di Colombo, la letteratura spagnola non dà esaurienti indicazioni sulle due caravelle che accompagnavano la Santa Maria verso le Indie.
Originariamente la Niña e la Pinta erano caravelle con vele latine.
Si sa che entrambe appartenevano ai fratelli Pinzon che partecipavano alla spedizione come capitani. Presso le isole Canarie la Pinta venne riattrezzata con vele quadre. Questa operazione richiese anche la sostituzione totale dell'albero e causò una perdita di tempo di quattro settimane. Cristoforo Colombo ha sempre indicato la sua nave ammiraglia come "nao" e le altre due come caravelle.

Le scatole di montaggio includono tutti gli accessori in legno e metallo; chiglia, ordinate e ponti in legno pretagliato al laser; vele e bandiere; fasciame e rivestimento dei ponti in legno pregiato; alberatura e manovre; piani costruttivi.

There are not many contemporary evidences on the two caravels, except for the few oblique references that can be found in a resume of Columbus Journal. Nevertheless two things are pretty sure: both ships belonged to the Pinzon family and at the very beginning both of them had lateen sails. Then during the first stop at the Canary Island the Pinta replaced its lateen sails with square sails. This operation, together with the substitution of the mast delayed the departure of four weeks. Columbus always referred to Niña and Pinta as the Caravels.

Both kits include all wooden and metal accessories; laser cut wooden keel, frames and decks; sails and flags; wooden planking; masts and riggings; construction plans and instructions.
