An Icon of Transoceanic Voyages

The Niña, with its Spanish name meaning "girl," was one of the three ships used by Christopher Columbus on his legendary voyage across the Atlantic Ocean in 1492.

Originally named Santa Clara, the nickname Niña might have been a humorous reference to the owner's name, Juan Niño.

About 20 meters long, this caravel was initially equipped with triangular sails, but during a stop in the Canary Islands, the lateen sails were replaced with square sails, transforming the Niña into an even more capable ship for the challenges of the open ocean.

The Niña was part of a daring expedition towards unknown lands. With the wind filling the sails and the sea stretching to the horizon, this caravel crossed the oceans, carrying with it the dream of new discoveries and endless horizons.
