Description

The carrack, or Spanish coca, is a type of ship built in the XV century and it was widely used as merchant ship. It generally featured two castles, one at stem and one at stern, in order to defend the load from pirate attacks. From the top placed on the long mast, sailors could easily monitor the sea. This ship had a unique appearance with its mast almost as long as the hull and with the round and large hold.
The caravel Santa Maria of Cristopher Columbus derives from this type of vessel.
The well known Coca of Matarò built as a votive offering, has been analyzed in the study of the evolution of the merchant Navy.

Received directly and promptly from Amati models. This proved to be a nicely detailed kit from good quality materials. Clear and precise instruction booklet makes an easy and enjoyable build with pleasing results. This is great value for money and I would highly recommend.

This is my first \"wood\" model - (I´m card-modeller mainly, I would like to try wood-planking). Basic construction is based on MDF frame, interesting material, hard, good for sanding and sawing, but fragile a bit (without accident yet) - but I work firstly with it, so take my comment with a reservation. Planks and other real wooden parts are from 100% perfect wood (no errors in natural material!). In box is everithing for succesfull building. I miss a classic construction plans with sharp drawn positions of parts - photo assembly not demonstrated all nuances. Scale 1/60 is a little unhappy (in my opinion), so together I´m building second model in my favourite 1/72. But, at the end - I very like this Nao :-)

Ottimo prodotto, materiali di buona qualità e istruzioni chiare. Non facilissimo come primo modello, in quanto la curvatura del fasciame alle estremità è molto accentuata. Seguendo le istruzioni si ottiene un modello molto piacevole. E' anche un'ottima base di partenza per chi volesse approfondire la realtà storica e apportare le modifiche tipiche per un veliero dell'epoca (ad esempio il riferimento della Nao di Matarò del 1450).

per essere il primo modello me ne sonos celto uno non facile anche perchè non ho tutti gli atrezzi giusti e la giusta manualità. però sono entusiasta perchè mi aiuta a passare le serate. spero di poter prosefuire con questa passione.
